Eating disorders and associated mental health problems

June Alexander will draw on her personal experience and research in speaking about:
  • The importance of early intervention of Anorexia Nervosa in children and adolescents, drawing from her research, personal experiences and stories of families and sufferers in her book My Kid Is Back.
  • The challenges of living with an eating disorder that continues into adulthood – in relationships and the workplace, with families and, most of all, with oneself.
  • The importance of family, friends and their power of love – working with a dedicated team of clinicians - in overcoming an eating disorder.
  • The importance of developing a healthy sense of identity, self-esteem and resilience in young children as a preventative measure against the development of eating disorders, body image worries, depression, anxiety and other mental health problems.
