Author, Journalist and Speaker

A lifetime love of words and writing has helped June beat her eating disorders, starting with Anorexia Nervosa at the age of eleven. She won a pen for her first essay competition at the age of nine and trapped rabbits on her parents’ farm to sell their pelts to help buy books. A journalist since the age of eighteen, June worked for many years on rural and suburban newspapers as senior writer, editor and newspaper columnist. In 2006 she turned her attention to researching and writing books about eating disorders and mental health issues. June’s book My Kid is Back – Empowering Parents to Beat Anorexia Nervosa, written in collaboration with Professor Daniel le Grange, of the University of Chicago, was released by Melbourne University Publishing in April 2009.

Routledge acquired exclusive rights for My Kid Is Back for the United Kingdom, Europe and North America, launching the book in London in March 2010.

June’s memoir, A Girl Called Tim, is in the hands of Australian literary agent Margaret Gee.

A textbook with international eating disorder experts and case studies is being co-authored by June with Professor Janet Treasure, of King’s College, London. This book, with the working title of Opening the Door on Eating Disorders, is due for release by Routledge in 2011.
